A new high-pressure stripper for Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited will increase operational efficiency
Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (MCF) is the largest chemical fertilizer manufacturer in the state of Karnataka, India. The high-pressure stripper will replace an existing vessel in MCF’s urea plant in Panambur, Mangaluru, licensed by Stamicarbon in 1972.
The plant’s existing high-pressure stripper has been in operation since 2005 and has reached its end of life. It will be replaced by a new vessel built according to Stamicarbon’s latest design, featuring proprietary materials. The equipment is expected to reach the plant before the planned turnaround in 2025.
The replacement stripper is equipped with a radar level measurement device following the success of using the radar in the old vessel. MCF was the first urea plant worldwide to implement a radar level measurement system in their high-pressure stripper in 2002, replacing radioactive measurement for improved safety and reliability of operation. The new radar has an improved design based on the latest standard and will increase the operational efficiency of the new stripper.
A high-pressure stripper is a vessel critical to urea synthesis and carbamate stripping, and its customized design and fabrication are even more important when replacing equipment in an older plant. Our design and engineering competence, combined with in-depth knowledge of the materials and fabrication process, results in a highly durable product integral to optimal performance and maximum lifespan within urea production.
